Gallery
Occupying the premises of the former grocers shop at Townfoot, Stow, the Cloudhouse gallery has been refurbished to enhance a feeling of light and space - the perfect backdrop for our stunning art pieces. Impressive exhibits from our resident artist Alexandra Warren adorn the double height walls.
Many of the details of the old shop and storerooms to the rear have been preserved including the beams, victorian panelling and the grocers winch. We have extended the space to include a more private mezzanine level accessed by a stunning spiral stair which, with some help from Rob Wilson of Galashiels, we designed ourselves. There’s a comfy sofa, more seating and some tactile sculptures all to appreciate upstairs.
Environmental concerns played a major part in our refurbishment. We fitted a carbon neutral wood pellet stove and energy efficient under floor heating throughout. All lighting uses energy saving lightbulbs and building materials have come from sustainable sources as far as possible - the floor is of sustainable bamboo and the bespoke tables are made out of recycled tetrapacks !
We want to create an exciting environment for our customers, that is both inviting and comfortable. Everyone is welcome at Cloudhouse. In keeping with our child friendly ethos we have dedicated a corner for kids to get down on the floor and play. As parents ourselves we know customers with children will appreciate a few moments to enjoy some food or peruse the gallery while their kids play.
